I just went through the member list and I counted 49 people who had never posted on the fourm and who knows how many who had only posted once, is there some way we could implement a "time out" so that if a person dosent log on in say... 2 months then they are automatically deleted. An e-mail warning could be sent to them 5 days before the deleation takes place, so that if they are truly interested in the forum they can log in and get another 2 months.

Im curious because its annoying to have the member count read 150+ when only 10 or so ever post.

A friend of mine told me about a forum that he visits who's admin cleaned out users who had not posted in 3 months, this resulted in the member count dropping from 1000+ to around 20 ( :o ). My friend had been visiting this forum for some time and had believed that he was speaking to a great number of people, I bet you can imagine his face when he saw the real numbers (in case you cant, it looked like this:  ).

I think the timeout is a good idea!
I don't understand why people register and
don't post! They can look at the posts
without registering am I right ??

I don't think it's a good idea to remove people who don't post or post a little, not all registered guys here post, ask or answer, maybe they keep watching and learning info (as I most of the time do) while keeping silent.

I'm also registered at several forums and I haven't posted more than 5 posts or so, but I do really learn a lot from just reading everyday posts, and when I need to ask I'll ask simply.
And what if they removed me 'coz I don't post, it would really piss me off, and maybe never visist that froum again.

Sorry, but no removing low posters.

If you want to know real numbers, count the people who post a certain number of posts.

I agree. We shouldn't remove ppl because they don't post much.
If you have nothing interesting to say, don't say it.
A policy of deleting non-posting members could result in member leaving because they're pissed off, or members posting non-sence spam post, just to stay with the forum...

it's not like it's a problem anyway.. :)

I didnt mean low posters, I just used them as an example, if you look at my post I said "log in" not post. I can see people not posting, but there are quite a few who just asked one question then never logged in again.

Thats what I would like the time out for, not non-posters, but people who just registered then never came back. :)

I don't see any real reason to take action, as well as mohamed. We don't have thousands of members, so what.

And I'm not sure if this forum software has the capabilities to track when users log in and when not or whatever.

if it doesnt then nevermind, but if we can we should take action now before we do have a problem.

When, or wether at all this will be a problem, is a concern of the web-master and the admins. I sugest we leave it at that.

Welcome!

First this is VERY offtopic :D Please post such questions in the mainforum.
Second: Yes. I think the protocols havent changed. If you can set your calcs speed set it to 9600Bps / Prarity None / 8 Bit (on you 9800G).
This should work (see manual appendix E)

he was on topic at first, no reason why he should start a new thread just to ask a simple little question. But on the other hand you really should put any further requests in the main fourm. :)

anyway, Welcome hope to be hearing more from you.
