Hello all,

Currently using fx-83 but have seen that the fx-991 can solve quadratics and would be allowed in my exams. Exam is quite soon but seeing as i've been using the 83 i think i may be able to get used to it in time - only problem is, the store I'm visiting tomorrow only has the fx991-ES - is this better or worse than the MS? If so, should I just order the MS online instead and stop being so impatient?

Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Mark

The FX-991ES looks sooo nice. Get the ES. The ES has an equation solver, natural textbook display plus another 400 functions I cannot list.

Compare for yourself: http://www.casioeduc.../comparison.php?

Go to the Non-graphing Calculator Comparison.

991ES has all the functions of 991MS and more. Some good features are the natural textbook display, the different log bas function, tables and the list based statistics. If the price is not too big go get it.

The speed is of some concern as Casio scientific calc is not very good at efficiently solving too complex numerical solution such as integration of complex trig function and so on.

Back to the function, well if you are in a hurry to learn to use it, it is easier to use than the 991MS. It is because the natural textbook makes it so easy to use.

Solve 2006^(1^2^3^4...^2006)
FX-991ES: Math Error
FX-991MS: =2006
Hehehe...

fx-991ES gives me "Math Error" when in CMPLX mode:
> e^(i*Pi)

Is this normal? Correct answer is -1.

Not possible yet, ES and MS cant do complex number equation other than +,-,*,/,sqr(n).
