Is the reason that I don't have a option "Set as active image" available on my ClassPad Manager: because I only have the CD that came with the calculator and I didn't bought the separated ClassPad Manager software?

No, you must have that option, I have the version that comes whit the first classpads and I have it, maybe there is something wrong, ask to Softcalc

You have to right click on computer, then insert existing image, then insert the image that you want and finally the active image is on.
