The elektronic-magazine Elektor discribes this month an adapter USB<->serial.
It's very, very usefull to connect your casio cable to (for example) your laptop. Because new laptops only have some USB-ports.
I know that the original casio software cannot send data to an USB-port, but the adapter simulates a virtual
COM-port, so you can use all software with it.
Drivers are available for win 98/98/ME/XP enz, and also for MAC.
I think this adapter is a must for many, many people.
When you buy Elektor this month, you can read the article. A picture is also available on her site: www.elektuur.nl
If any casio-fan has a web site about casio, i will scan this article and send it to him. He can upload it then to his page and everyone can read and build the adapter.
So, I hope this information was usefull for you...
very usefull adapter!!!

WHAT'S THIS?
Companies making computers WITHOUT a serial port??
my laptop is less than 10 months (it needs to go in for warranty, though - see the thread in the off-topic forum "computer doing strange things").
Anyway, my laptop has a serial port. it's not that old.
btw, give me one example of a laptop that doesn't have a serial port (no macs)

many companies have started excluding serial ports in their laptops.
can't pick any off the top of my head, but I had to take special care in selecting a laptop with serial port when I bought mine (october 02)

You can buy some cards to add serials ports for less than $30.

Sure there are other options to get such com-ports, but in the future there will be no pc with a com-port anymore.
The adapter is just one option, but it's multifunctional, and can be used everywhere.
And the adapter contains all SMD (Surface Mounted Device) parts, who are very difficult to solder, and when you like it to solder elektronics (just like I do) it's a fine job to make the adapter.
Also, it was just an idea, maybe there's someone that found it useful.
(PS: You can buy a complete-kit of the adapter, including print and electronic parts for ?61,-. Also on the website: www.elektuur.nl
