has anyone ever made a decent one? eg one that can communicate with fa123, one that will do more than just run txt file programs, one that lets us do normal things with the calculator?

Well, me thinks there's code on this forum NOT to dream about these things. Ready? Here we go:

1. FA-123, no updates, no new things, can't transfer special characters.
2. CasioCom crashes your computer and doesn't transfer. (no offence)
3. CFX has no updates, we must take it for granted.
4. Why do you want an emulator, I know it's cool and I think there should be a basic compiler, optimiser and that sort of thing... yeah OK.
5. We don't want computer stuff on the calculator, it's lame. (e.g. Internet)

That's just about it. Does anyone want Windows on CFX?

I think he meant that sarcasticly  , but anyway there are many Windows Copies for the CFX (In Basic, not pretty good and completely useless though :P ).

I agree to rstjephens, there should really be some AFX emulators (at least one)! :hammer:

nah... I wasn't being sarcastic
You just said it, no good CFX emulators, AFX emulator would be cool, I want to know how good it really is. I could never create programs because I don't know how, can't be stuffed, what's the point, who gives, what the hell... how do it anyway? AHH! I only want to be able to plot things on the first line, then we can have great games like Bomberman with 16x16 squares. It's so hard to come up with good screen layouts. 21x7, 21x9, 10x10, 20x10... there must always be some annoying feature like the Text canvas being 126x62, Locate being 21x7, Plot being 127x63...

What am I talking about?

the afx ewould be a whole lot easier to emulate than a cfx because it has a a computer processor in it (286)

all it would need would be for someone to back up the rom and do some other easy crap.

well ok; it wouldn't be that easy, but it would be one hell of a lot harder to make a cfx emulator.

--edit--
i mean easier.

Windows on a calc would be a bad idea, then Microcrap would charge 300 dollars a version, and it would crash your calc every third Monday of the month or something lame like that.
Internet was discussed on a different thread, but has proven to be not very useful.

An emulator of either of the calcs might be nice for people like me that still program in casio BASIC (I know, I'm behind the times). It would be nice to be able to write and debug an entire program on the computer before transfering it to the calc because I type on a computer MUCH faster than I do on a calc, but transfering it to and from the calc for half an hour debugging and adding things makes me not program nearly anything on the computer. Right now my typical programming routine is to write the entire thing on the calc, debug it for a few minutes, transfer it to the computer to add lower case letters where needed, and then transfer it back to the calc.
If I could do everything on my computer then just transfer the end result to the calc, I would be happy :)
