Hi there!
After many time of missing, I'm now back right there !!
So do U remember this demo of Metal Gear Solid I've dropped ?
I have really good news for you! MGS is really in a good way of developpement!

Now the game features:

- Complete 5 color graphic engine (Mx2D)
- 6 Different Weapons:
*C4
*57 mm
*R5
*Nikita
*Grenade
*Clayton mines

- Fully working Installer (extracts the sprites in zone 12)
- Fully working external objects loading
- Ennemies with some IA in a good way of developpement too (but not finished as well)
- Source code totally structured (not like Sb100) in order to win time
- Ennemies fully animated
- Explosions fully animated
- Weapon system right to be finished soon (still some bugs)
- etc ...

Now I know what you fancy ... Screenshots !!
So juste have a look at these screenshots:

The title screen: (only in 3 colors):

Now I have designed a mission & objectives system, which will probably work fine (I dunno coz it's still on my mind, not in da code ;))

But I have some bugs which need to be corrected until I continue coding the game!

Will this be like the 2D version for the NES? This makes me wonder how much 3D the AFX can handle. I dont want to get us OT but do you think the AFX could handle a simple 3D game like Wolfenstein 3D? Something similar is available for the Z80 line of TIsand those processers are only 4mhz.

In reply to betoe:
Metal Gear Solid is not downloadable for the moment, because I is not as complete as I want it to be for beta-testing! So when I will judge it quite correct I'll be abale to publish a demo :)
But if you want the GB Rom Game, mail me I'll send it to you !!

In reply to Genesis:
I always wanted to play famous games on my Graph100 (Afx2 in France)... with original graphics. For example, when I was making sprites for bomberman, I proceeded like this:

-> Running Rom Game
-> Displaying only sprites/environnement
-> Making a screencopy
-> Extracting the sprites from the screensopy
-> Makling colors in gray shades
-> Encoding them (using some useful software)

And it's the same for Metal Gear ...
All the sprites are copied from GB game!!
About encoding:

For bomberman, I used to encode sprite myself, using my calc (converting Binary to Hexadecimal)
Or using Ti Paint Plus 3. This Ti un-official software can encode sprites of anysize in 3 colors, in hexadecimal format, as I wanted! (Ti paint plus can make masks for sprites too, a really useful option !!)

But for Metal Gear, that's not the same, cause sprites use 5 color palette ... and that's too much for Ti Paint Plus .... But a guy named Tonton1664 (French user) made a wonderful program called Bmp100, which can translate directly bmp to code, using many formats! Column B&W, Linear B&W, 3 grays Linear, 3 grays bmp, 5 grays linear, auto-readable picture in *.exe format, etc...

So that's what I use for metal gear :) And I can also apply effets on pictures: resize, zoom, symetry, etc...
And finally, I copy the code made by Bmp100 in the lib of Mgs' installor, and that's all ... I have to compile it ;) :D

I have finished some cool features, I mean:

* 2 Different mission types: 'Infiltrate' & 'Normal'
In the first mode, Killing a guard will decrease your money, but in the other mode, this will increase !!
Of course, I didn't forget realism, and I'm able to set different Prizes for each soldier killed :) Thanks to structures :lol:

* Pause menu: I have replaced Ammo Sprites by Weapon Sprites, that looks better :) And I'm designing a new interface cause it was too simply :rolleyes:

* I'm ready to program an 'inactive object system'. I mean an add-on to the current Object engine which deals with Ammo, Weapons and Rations found on maps!! Therefore I have deleted the Buy menu, and that's better this way!! :D

* I've deleted all the masks, that makes the graphic engine a bit faster and make Snake and the soldiers a bit hiddent, I find this better for the game kind :)

Hmmm so that's all for today :P

If you don't agree, just delete this post I will edit the previous one :)

So I'm in a good way, I'm finishing the pause menu (now it looks quite good, it's near from GB version)
and I have began the Object System :D
