Server: powertech.no.eu.dal.net (or any DALnet server)
Port: 6666
Chan: #ucn-chat

Get mIRC or Trillian to connect to the chat.

I hope at least exca joins me again, if he reads that...

My IRC Client (the one that came with <{GNULINUX}>) always tells me that it has a socket error
or that the server is full. I simply can't use the chat though I would like to.

Well, do you use a random DALnet server? Try another...everything works fine for me. Study the documents for mIRC, PJ! There are manuals on the site.

astro.ga.us.dal.net / Port 6661
dragons.ga.us.dal.net / Port 6661
netropolis-r.uk.eu.dal.net / Port 6666

I made it right now but with mIRC, but i think that its too similar.

First I choose a "IRC network" in the options menu, i wrote my nickname, etc... Then i choose the "connect" option, if it appear "conection no available" or something similar, then i change the "IRC network".

Once connected, it is going to you to request the name of the channel

why do you chose that irc server killer??
I don't understand, most of the users didnt use irc once in there life and you chose a server that has autokill.

Please read the documents on www.dal.net.
I think you have to enable the ident, but i didnt use irc for ages, whatever.
ross can help you better with this.

and guys, please press F1 when running mirc for the help documents.
There is everything explained.

See ya.

PS.: One more time, why do you chose dal.net??

I chose it because it's a large network and all clients have some servers listed by default.

I think trillian's ident server doesn't work and has prohibited me from connecting before, but now it seems they does not longer require for you to run ident.

One more time: it was a random selection. I don't see what's worse about DALnet compared to other irc servers.

HAHAHA wow i saw this comming a mile away, this is why irc is great for distro groups cause no one can put up with it

dalnet's... ok i guess they allow chan registering but dalnet's a ghost town since they said you cant file swap on it anymore (copywritted materials)

and cant work mirc? it's not that dificult just check the options and choose dalnet network and hit connect, if your having probs turn off your firewall and if your behind a router ident wont work sometimes so port foreward 113 to your computer

and i'll be back at college in a week to idle there/op/helpout 24/7
i'll have to meet up with you on there killer so you can tell me the technical stuff you set up

dont specify a server cause servers go up and down just use
irc.dalnet.com 6666
that will route you to an open server every time

oh holy god.
mIRC is one of the easiest programs i used my short life... :P
just read the help documents that come with mIRC.
And if you have problems with dalnet, esp. disconnecting read the documents on their pages.
but please read the mIRC Help first...!

bye.

the easy way is to go to www.dal.net and use the "Chat Now" function.
Just go to their site. type in your nickname (next to "Chat Now"-Button) and press enter or whatever. now an applet will load.
after loading it automatically connects you to the dal-net network. :-)

typing "/join #ucn-chat" (without quotes) will connect you to the casio chatroom.

alright people the problem is that you are not running identd
options -> connect -> identd -> "enable idented"

and if you cant figure out irc... well put more time into it before you turn here, i mean at least check out the help docs
