in the board list, next to each forum there is a little button that says "ipb"
i'm curious, what does it stand for, and what does it do?

Look at the bottom of the board,

it says: 'Powered by Invision Power Board..'

just my guess :)

Yes. Maybe there is an option for a custom pic to be on that place as well.

Kind of like how the UCF logo at the top said Invision Board for a while.
