Is there any way to prevent my Casio fx-991MS (or ES) from auto powering-off after 7 minutes?
It destroys my calculation history after I've typed in a long equation in the solver. Very frustrating... and I have to type it in all over.

I'm afraid that there's no way, however you're not supposed to just leave the calculator alone for a long time.
I agree... ... But Let’s say you are collaborating with someone on the Newton-Raphson method for solving a polynomial, or entered another long equation into the solver. After carefully entering in the equation, you stop to discuss the merits of your problem, —and during this time your scientific calc times-out and auto turns-off after 7 minutes of non-use, —I'm dead in the water...
I love the 991MS and 991ES. I wish there was a hack to prevent auto power-down, or, a hack to extend the time for longer than 7-minutes, after all, they're both solar powered too, so it wouldn't be a problem. /Regards

Perhaps you can try calculating some long expression (such as "sum(x,1,1e9)"). The calculator will not turn off while
calculating. To break, just press AC.
This method has the problem of consuming some battery.
Thanks! --for this tip. So long as I keep my fx-991MS is strong ambient light my batt should be okay.

Try FX-991DE Plus (maybe, also other national versions). This version has a possibility to set auto power off to 60 minutes.
