I'm trying to decide which calculator to buy. Please see the following post:
http://www.casiocalc...?showtopic=6749
Can you help me decide. TI has not responded to me yet. I don't want to get the HP-50G (75 Mhz) because of the RPL programming language.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this within the next week.
Ty

Hello Jack! Are you interested in programming? If so, what type? (C, basic, asm) Have you written anything yet?
Hello 42, as said in my profile I have programed C for years. For example I have written a program that outputs all 4x4 magic squares into a file. I am now working on a DOS add-in on the 9860 as I found it has addresses(\\fls0\ for example). But the problem is text-style console inputting. Can you help me? Must I use getkey and print( ?

A dos addin, hmm? Have you considered porting bash? (The default shell for many <{GNULINUX}> distributions) It fixes many of the idiosyncrasies of QDOS, and adds some new features (like piping). You can also view the source of bash, while you only have experimentation to work on when porting something dos-like. If bash is too large for your purposes (it most likely is), you could try porting ash source: ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/sla...sh-0.4.0.tar.gz (Note that the source is a tarball, and that you'll need 7-zip or something like that on windows).

If you want to get started with programming your fx, Forty-Two mentioned a good tutorial. You may also want to try LuaFX and C/C++/ASM.

Have you ever programmed for your fx? I suggest trying out basic first, CrimsonCasio's BASIC tutorial should help.
No I haven't. A friend who's more tech-savvy than me has dabbled a bit and shown some of it off to me. I'd quite like to have a go – thanks very much for the recommendations, Forty-Two and flyingfisch!

If you work hard, read a lot, and ask questions, you may be the more tech-savvy of yourselves in time.

Working hard is the main thing. You may feel like you are making no progress, and then all of a sudden you get your program to work. It can be frustrating, but all in all, its very fun.

No, but maybe in the future...who knows. It still seems to be a land of opportunities do you? If you've got the passion, I think it will be perfect for you. I read from your presentation that you're taking flying lessons!Cool!

Hey aero, welcome to UCF. Btw, where are you from? I did a whois on you but it only came up as RIPE Network Coordination Centre. A quick Google shows that that's the main hub for Europe, located in the Netherlands. Does that mean that you're an admin there?
Not really. Anyway, I'm from Italy.

Just use this online whois tool: http://whois.domaintools.com/ it correctly tells you the country of an IP address.
