Hello all, this will be one of my first posts on this site so tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. On to the topic, when I enter the equation: 6/2(1+2) It will then make it into: 6/(2(1+2)) I looked this up and it appears to be using an old rule (so I am told). Is there any way to change this? Thanks for your reply!

Nope, no way to change it. But I also don't see why you'd need it, you can usually adjust everything by just using "(" and ")"

Please, read the UG - page 2-2 and 2-3 about calculation priority sequence.
The omitted multiplication sign has higher priority than multiplication, division and other 2 operations.
You need to type the expression exactly (with multiplication sign or parenthesis - the calc doesn't know your thoughts), because 6/2(1+2) is undefined (this expression has 2 different meanings). Fortunately, Casio add the parenthessis automatically so the expression is exactly defined for calculation.

Exponentiation
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction
Order of operations according to PEMDAS/BIMDAS/BOMDAS
for equation 6/2[1+2]
Brackets /parentheses appears first hence:
(1+2)=3 §A
PEMDAS state multiplication next operation
2A=6 §B
PEMDAS state Division next operation
6֤B=1
Casio FX 9860G shows:
6÷(2(1+2))
=1

The ppc acts like mathematical formulae work: The (nomrally omitted) multiply sign has the highest priority. I like this.
It works only if you have one letter variables.
