Sent to Volcano.

this version:
first of all, I turned off the battles so that people with CFX calcs wont run out of memory. second you can now go off the top of the screen and reach a few new areas. third at the town you can now play blackjack.

Also no speed decrease!

I need some advice though, is it better to have an indepth battle system which is very realistic, but takes longer to play... or a pokemon like system with I hit you, you hit me gameplay, but is quick, thus not interupting the main game as long... hmm, mabey I can find a good combination of the two.

there are two episodes, i have both.

however, it won't work on my win xp laptop or my win 98 computer.

my dad had an old 486 laptop that his work was throwing out, i tried it on that, it works great. only one problem: the laptop screen is black and white.

after much playing of the game, i have decided it would be almost impossible to port this directly from pc to CFX (maybe AFX, when i can find the $400), so i decided to make a new game that is based on the same ideas this game is based on.

takng into accouint matrixes and working memory, however, i figure i have about 18k of ram maximum to make this game it into.

Another idea that might be tried by an AFX user:
Zone 66. I LOVE this game, still play it, and would port it myself if the CFX was fast enough.

you can download solar winds at www.dosgames.com under space shooting.

basicly, in solar winds, you play the part of "bounty hunter" who has to go round to various locations in the solar system doing jobs, etc. etc. etc.

in zone 66, you fly a fighter jet and have to blow up all the enemy targets on the map.

both ar great games, but zone 66 is REALLY fast and REALLY hi-res graphics, even rivalling some of the windows games today that require a $800 graphics card to run properly, while Z66 was designed to (and runs very well) on a 486 with no graphics accelleration.

you might be able to find zone 66 at dosgames.com aswell, but i can't see it (i didn't look very hard)

I recently had an interesting idea, I wont go into details but it involves using Basic to improve itself... I know it seems imposible, but it might work. if it does it might provide a way to create better/faster games.

If some tests work I will post more info.

:) I already do a similar thing in my new basic program ( periodic table II ) the program has 9432 bytes, but for they size they are very fast, i "lose" many time to do that ( 4 day to make the program and 1 week to make then fast as possible )......

When i get one web site to distribute then i will post here.... :)

translation problem?

anyway, I have enough time now to explain my idea.

I call it M-BASIC, it use matricies instead of normal code, by scaning through the entire matrix it calls programs which perform the desired tasks.

The Good things:
1) Ez to reuse code, you can tell prog where execution is to begin and end.
2) Can jump by line number or By Lbl.
3) Can create "functions" which accept and return values.
4) Can create sprites.
5) Can reprogram itself on the fly

The Bad Things:
1) Slightly slower than normal basic.
2) needs a compiler

Any thoughts, Questions, Suggestions?

the interpretation itself would be too slow, and it would grow slower as you expanded with more functions..

you would have to check for each possible value, and call the appropriate function, would be similar to emulating keypresses (to input strings to lists.. :) )

It takes 1 second longer with all the functions named above plus a few more.

currently Im trying to integrate BASIC and M-BASIC, using M for functions.

yes i program java, what kind of program do you need? although i am probably what you call an interediate java prorgrammer, i bet i could do some serious research and pull something off, with bytefish's help it could be done faster i think. (bytefish i think is a better java person than i am), maybe we could write the source together?

I just need someone, i dont care who, to write a program to compile instrunctions into a M-BASIC readable format which can then be transmitted to a calc. I dont want this to be done right now, because I'm still not sure about what all I the language will include, and if it will even be done (at least in this form).

I will be able to provide exact instructions once I have decided on the features of the language.
