Well, I have heard of some weird problems before, but this one takes the cake.
I was using my calculator and I heard and felt a "pop". The calculator still works fine though... I even tried overclocking it.
That was yesturday. Three times so far since then, my calc has been making these little sizzling noises. I am not sure how to explain it... they sound kind of like a "shhshh" sound and only last about a second. However, my calc seems to be working perfectly.
So I want to know what reasons for this the rest of you can come up with, since I am pretty puzzled by the whole thing.
So far, the only explanations I can come up with are:
1. The "pop" was a capacitor exploding. But that doesn't make sense because the calc still works.
2. Maybe water got under one of the keys (I can see some water between and under the lower row of keys, I am going to see if I can get it to dry up) and the "pop" was because one of the keys was being held down by the suction and finally popped up.
I don't know how to explain the sizzle though.

maybe the dielectric of that key became soaked and when you press it the water get electrolysed and some oxygen and hydrogen are escaping. just a wild guess

Yeah, its totally weird. Especially since the calc works perfectly fine...

maybe a battery issue, was there any strange smell?

No strange smell, but my batteries were low (they ran out all the way about an hour ago.) However, I have no new batteries so I can not verify that that was the issue yet.

My phone's camera shutter sizzles when I connect/disconnect the charger, but how can a "rock-solid" device as a calc make such sound?
But if anything has exploded or is leaking you should feel some horrible smell at least.
If you dare, open the calc and verify the physical look of the parts. (Make sure you don't break warranty seals; if you found any, don't open it)

Nah, I don't think I'll open it. It seems to be working fine, so I won't bother. But this is a sort of weird problem.
